Niagara Falls Casino – VIP Parking Garage

Repairing & Waterproofing Beam in Parking Garage

Problem

Built on a cliff overlooking the world-famous Horseshoe Falls, Fallsview Casino Resort is the largest and most elegant gaming resort facility in Canada. The crown jewel in Niagara’s stunning array of wonders, Fallsview offers a world-class casino with over 3,000 slot machines and 100 gaming tables. The resort also features a 374-room luxury hotel, full service spa and fitness centre, dozens of shops and restaurants, the Avalon Theatre (an intimate 1500-seat state-of-the-art venue) and over 30,000 sq. feet of meeting and convention space.

Talk about excitement! Fallsview Casino Resort was built at a cost of $1 billion and opened to the public on June 10, 2004. The resort remains the largest single investment ever made by the Government of Ontario in the Niagara region. The VIP section in the parking garage had water infiltration issues coming through an overhead concrete beam which was an obvious nuisance for the car owners parking their expensive vehicles in the area. For Fallsview, it was an inconvenience to block these parking stalls and a loss of revenue.

Solution

Kelso Coatings along with their certified applicators were able to arrest all leaks in the beam by applying our CN2000 waterproofing system to the negative side (inside of structure). All VIP customers can now enjoy parking leak free!

Process & Highlights

  • Hoard off area to be treated with CN2000 waterproofing system.
  • Set up scaffolds so that CR is able to prepare the concrete according to technical specifications, which includes chasing of all cracks and cold joints as well as scarifying the concrete structure in a safe manner.

Products Used

  • The full CN2000 system was applied on this project.
  • Initially terminating all active leaks with CN2000A.
  • Saturate the porous concrete with water and apply 2 coats of CN2000B.
  • After initial set, apply 1 coat of CN2000C/D for curing purposes.
